The History of Red Cow

As a family, we want a visit to Red Cow to feel like visiting our own home. Our guests can always expect a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and exceptionally good food and drinks. Our locations share the same comfortable, yet sophisticated vibe. Red Cow is special enough for a date night, yet comfortable enough for a fun night out with friends and family... and that’s just the way we wanted it.

The History of the Red Cow

Red Cow was hatched the way a lot of great ideas are – around the kitchen table. As a family, Luke, Tracy and their sons Michael and Peter, would always talk about what kind of restaurant they would build together. With a shared love for a really good burger, the family decided on a “modern tavern” concept that would elevate burgers and beverages to something special. Stumped on a name, the family pitched ideas back and forth for weeks until one day Tracy said, “how about ‘Red’ for the wine and ‘Cow’ for the burgers? Red Cow!”

With a concept and a name under their belts, They sought out a team to help create a menu of diverse and flavorful burgers. Red Cow’s signature burger is the 60/40. Made with 60% certified Angus beef and 40% ground bacon patty and topped with Wisconsin-aged cheddar, beer mustard and candied bacon – it’s definitely a ‘must.’ If you’re looking for something a little more outside the box, check out the Barcelona Burger. Topped with manchego, prosciutto, piquillo pepper and smoked pepper aioli, the Barcelona Burger raises the stakes in the burger game. Voted “Best Burger” by Mpls/St. Paul Magazine twice and ranked as one of the hottest burgers in North America by Eater, the menu at Red Cow has raised the bar on the burger game.

Luke and family feel strongly that a delicious burger deserves to be paired with an equally delicious beverage. They’ve taken great care to create an imaginative – yet thoughtful – selection of wine, specialty cocktails and craft beers. From classic cocktails – like their Manhattan and Old Fashioned – to their custom house creations, you’ll find something that pairs perfectly with your gourmet burger. Wine lovers will feel right at home at Red Cow. With almost 40 different varieties to choose from, you can discover a flavorful wine that will enhance your burger or a glass that’s perfect to enjoy with appetizers and friends. And thanks to their state-of-the-art Le Verre de Vin wine preservation system, your wine will always taste fresh from the cellar. Beer lover’s will find plenty on tap too with Red Cow’s impressive list of local craft beers including Fulton, Surly, Lift Bridge Brewing, Steel Toe and Indeed.
